RJ Avery of Avery Realty Group provides a brief market update for the Trails of Chestnut Meadows in Forney Tx.
So the short answer for me is no, they should not reintroduce any sort of tax credit incentive for home buyers at this time. For me there is more than just one reason for this.
To start almost guaranteed any extension of credit is going to have to retroactively include those that bought in the lull period and this is going to add a lot of cost to an already debt burden treasury.
Secondly the Real Estate market needs to be able to get back to some sort of normal. As long as tax incentives are pushing people towards buying homes we cannot get a true idea of a real demand.
Lastly, interest rates are at historic lows. Rates can be had as low as 3.75 on a 15 year note and 4.24 on a 20 year note. If this is not an incentive for buyers who would already be taking the next step towards homeownership, I am not sure what is.
If tax incentives are inevitable it would be nice to see them focus on some other areas. Mainly we still have a large amount of foreclosures available. By providing incentives for investors you could easily bring out small time investors looking to pick up a rent house or two for retirement. Also provide incentives to help home sellers mainly any home seller selling their house and taking a loss of up to $8000 can get paid back on their loss.
Either way we are definitely still in for a few more bumpy years in the Real Estate Market. At the end of the day do yourself a favor and do not listen to the news when it comes to Real Estate. Call your local Realtor as Real Estate varies from market to market.
